How to Send a Gold Payment

Sending a gold payment is easy: enter the email or alias of the person you wish to make your payment and the amount of gold you wish to send.  Then press the Send Gold button.


Step #1: Click on the Send Gold link

The page My Account displays all your sub-accounts.  Click on the link [Send Gold] for the account from which you want to make a gold payment.

Step #2: Enter Email or Alias and Gold Amount

After clicking on the link [Send Gold], you will see the page below.  In this page, you enter the alias or email you wish to make your payment and the amount of gold you wish to send.

In the example above, the payment is made to the alias BobStore and the Gold Amount is 100 grams of gold.

Payment Parameter Description
From Sub-account from which you want to withdraw gold and make your payment.  If you have multiple sub-accounts, then iGolder will display you a list of all your sub-accounts with the available gold to spend.  Selecting the proper sub-account may be important if you operate multiple businesses with your iGolder account.
Contact Email address you want your customer to contact you.  The contact email is important in the case the recipient wishes to contact you later.

If you select [Anonymous], then iGolder will display only your account name, and the recipient will be unable to contact you by email; only with our private messaging system.
To Alias or email address of the recipient you wish to send your payment.  When you send a payment, iGolder sends an email message to the primary email address of the recipient to notify him/her about the received gold.

If the email is not found in the database, then iGolder will create a new account and will send an email message inviting the recipient to collect his/her gold.  Rest assured, if you send gold to an invalid email address, you can always cancel the transfer and get your gold back.  The recipient's email is considered valid after completing a successful login to his/her account.
Name iGolder displays the recipient name to assist you detecting typos in the recipient alias or email address. Thus, if you enter an incorrect alias, you are likely to see [Unknown] or the name of another account holder.  If you enter a new email address, then iGolder will ask you to enter the name of the new customer.

iGolder also displays the Reputation Karma next to the recipient name. If you wish to learn more about your future trading partner, simply click on the recipient name; iGolder will display his/her public profile with the feedback comments (if available).
Gold Amount Quantity of gold (in grams) you wish to send.  If you wish to send a payment in ounces of gold, or in a fiat currency, such as USD, EUR or GBP, iGolder provides you a calculator.  Just click on the calculator icon and you will be able to enter a value and iGolder will calculate the quantity of gold to send. Please notice the calculator is purely for convenience; iGolder will calculate the weight of gold to transfer from the current market exchange rate for fiat currencies.

Note Transaction memo which may include the invoice number and/or product description. The transaction note is limited to 2,500 characters.  In case of a dispute, the transaction description may be used to determine what product or service you purchased.
Safetransit Time Amount of time to hold the gold transfer until the performance obligations of the recipient have been fulfilled. The Safetransit time protects you (the buyer) from non-shipment or misrepresentation of merchandise by the seller. You may stop any payment in Safetransit and initiate a dispute. Please bear that any dispute involves a fee of one gram of gold plus 10% of the disputed amount.



Step #3: Confirm Your Gold Payment

After clicking on the button Send Gold, iGolder will display a summary of your payment with the button Confirm Payment.  Notice you may see your balance before making your payment, the payment amount, and your balance after.  If you move the mouse over the balance or payment amount, iGolder will display a small window for the gold value in other currencies.

Stopping a Payment

You may stop your payment as long as the payment has not cleared from Safetransit.  To stop a payment, you have to click on the View Details.

Since August 1st, 2013 iGolder is no longer accepting new accounts and balances can only be redeemed. During the past years, we have been recommending Bitcoin more than our own payment system. We believe in physical gold ownership, and developed iGolder as a mechanism for people to acquire physical gold by trading with one another.

Since iGolder has a central point of failure (our server may be raided by thugs wearing some kind of uniform), we feet it is safer for us to cease operations. The iGolder experiment has been personally rewarding as we met many gold enthusiasts and also learned about Bitcoin in the process. For those who have no idea what Bitcoin is, we recommend doing your own research. Bitcoin is far superior to iGolder in every way, both in privacy and security as our server is always vulnerable to confiscation. Bitcoin is a communication protocol with a built-in "escrow service" capable of protecting both the buyer and the seller, rendering our Safetransit completely redundant. For those having gold in their iGolder account, we will ship the physical metal to anyone having more than 1 ounce of gold, assuming the owner is willing to assume the shipping costs. For smaller quantities, we offer to settle in Bitcoin, however we will also settle with any other reasonable payment system. We will give everyone at least two full years (until 2016) to contact us to claim their gold. After that period, any unclaimed gold will go to fund an economic development project in Honduras helping local people to become entrepreneurs.
